The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating a case pertaining to fraud for an amount of Rs 150 crores that relates to change of land use (CLU). This particular investigation is going on primarily due to some scams within the realm of real estate regarding construction projects including Suntec City and Altus Space Builders Pvt Ltd. In this particular investigation, ED is trying to find out whether the CLU was approved through any fraud document.

The officials from Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) have been called to appear before the ED and submit documents pertaining to the issue of project approval and other financial dealings that the developer has conducted. The case has been registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), since an FIR has already been lodged by Punjab Police regarding this matter. The matter under investigation revolves around the forgery of consent letter from the landowner of the township project, which exceeded 30 acres in Mohali.

According to official sources, the amount above ₹150 crore is being collected illegally from the buyers and investors without proper signing of sale deeds. According to the sources, ED had conducted raids at different places in Mohali, Chandigarh, and Patiala in connection with the Indian Cooperative Housing Building Society, Altus Space Builders, ABS Townships, Dheer Constructions, and other related parties. As per news reports, around ₹1 crore in cash, along with other relevant documents, was recovered during these raids.

The involvement of middlemen, project officers, and others associated with the projects is also under consideration by the commission. The project officers had been investigating the issuance of the necessary permits and clearance despite problems with the ownership documents. It was stated that the investigations about the financial and land deals associated with the projects are ongoing.
